ICANN requires us to confirm that the email address on your registrant contact works. You confirm it by clicking the link in a verification email we send you.
When we send it
We send a verification email:
- When you add a new contact.
- When you change a contact's email address, so the new address gets verified.
- Once a year, with ICANN's annual reminder to review your contact details.
The first two arrive with the subject "Verify Your Contact Email for OrbitFour". The yearly one is titled "Annual Verification Required for OrbitFour Contact". Open the email and select Verify email address.
Deadlines
- The link expires after 7 days. If it has expired, request a new one as described below.
- You have 15 days to verify after we ask. If you don't, the registrant's domains may be suspended. A suspended domain stops resolving, so its website and email stop working.
Our Domain Registration Agreement treats not responding to accuracy inquiries for more than 15 days as grounds for suspension or cancellation.
Resending the verification email
- Go to Contacts (
/account/contacts). - Find the contact. An unverified contact shows an Unverified badge under its email address.
- Select Edit.
- Under Email Verification, select Resend Verification.
A message confirms the email was sent and shows the address. If you resend too often, you'll be asked to wait a minute and try again. Resending keeps any unexpired link working, so an earlier email still works.
On a team account, you need permission to update contacts to resend.
Not seeing the email? Check your spam folder, and check that the address on the contact is spelled correctly. If it's wrong, correct it in the edit form, select Update Contact, and a new email goes to the corrected address.
If your domain was already suspended
Verify the email using the latest link, then contact support with the domain name so we can lift the hold.
